From drones to power banks, here are three popular tech brands that originated from China.
DJI has been the undisputed leader in consumer drones ever since the launch of the Phantom quadcopter in 2013. Thanks to its proximity to factories in China’s tech hub of Shenzhen, DJI has left its rivals chasing behind with quickly-improving models. Its Chinese roots, though, have attracted the attention of US authorities.
Anker’s power banks may not be the cheapest. They may also lack the most flashy features. But people love them because they have just the right combination of quality and price. The brand, which also sells chargers and cables, was founded by ex-Googler Steven Yang, who said he built the company to change the world’s perception of Chinese products.
OnePlus is one of those rare Chinese phone brands that managed to make a dent in the US. In a country where Huawei and Xiaomi handsets are notably missing, OnePlus has gained a remarkable following for delivering high-powered handsets at acceptable prices. In 2018, T-Mobile became the exclusive carrier for the OnePlus 6T -- marking OnePlus’ first collaboration with a US carrier.
