This year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas got a taste of just how massive in-car screens are about to get. Chinese electric vehicle startup Byton showed off the final version of its M-Byte car, which features a 48-inch screen that spans the entire length of the dashboard.
In preparation for the event, Byton also announced which partners the EV company will collaborate with through its Developer Program to fill this huge screen with content. These include AccuWeather for weather reports, ViacomCBS for entertainment and Aiqudo for voice control, among others.
The world first got a glimpse of Byton at CES 2018 when the company introduced its M-Byte car concept. Since then, Byton has been adding even more screens. When a completed version was showcased at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, the electric SUV had five screens, including a touch screen on the steering wheel.
Placing such a large screen directly in front of drivers has, of course, opened plenty of questions about traffic safety. But Byton seems undeterred with plans to launch the vehicle in China this year.
