Dominant drone giant DJI tweeted a teaser video for a product event on April 27, featuring what looks like the top of a drone. Titled “Up Your Game,” it’s fueling speculation that the new product will be a successor to the two-year-old Mavic Air.
Last week, eagle-eyed fans spotted a filing on the US Federal Communications Commission database for a new drone called the “Mavic Air 2.” It’s expected to carry a larger battery than the highly portable Mavic Air, which DJI says has a maximum flight time of 21 minutes, but in our testing only flies for about 15 minutes.
The original Mavic Air was a hit, delivering features from higher-end DJI drones at a more consumer-friendly price. But that price might be a little higher if you’re in the US. Last year, DJI raised the prices of its drone lineup in the US, citing new tariffs imposed by the Trump administration on some Chinese imports.
