If you think you’ve seen the last of pop-up cameras on smartphones, you might be in for a surprise. This is how Lenovo is dealing with the selfie camera on its first gaming phone, according to teaser videos leaked to XDA-Developers by a “trusted source.”
The pop-up lens is located on the side, while the dual back cameras are placed toward the center. Both are ideal for mobile gamers who tend to hold their phones horizontally. It also means there won’t be a notch or camera cutout on the screen that could obstruct gameplay. Another feature designed for horizontal orientation is a USB Type-C port on the opposite side of the camera, allowing users to charge up without the cable interfering with their hands. Lenovo already said last month that the phone will offer astoundingly fast 90W wired charging -- trouncing even Oppo’s industry-leading 65W wired charging.
XDA’s source also said the phone’s display will have a 2340×1080 resolution with a super smooth 144Hz refresh rate, on par with a recently released gaming phone from ZTE spinoff Nubia, another Chinese brand. The touch sampling rate goes up to 270Hz, which should make the screen highly responsive to gestures.
