For the first time, OnePlus phone users can enjoy wireless charging -- if they’re willing to pay up. On Wednesday, the Chinese phone maker unveiled the US$899 OnePlus 8 Pro, which offers 30W fast charging on the brand’s proprietary wireless charger. The Pro model's US$200 premium also gets users a 120Hz 6.78-inch display, which should offer a smoother experience than the OnePlus 8’s slightly smaller 90Hz screen.
The OnePlus 8 Pro has a zoom lens and color filter camera, both of which you won’t find on the OnePlus 8. Unlike last year’s OnePlus 7 Pro, though, it no longer sports a mechanical pop-up camera. Instead, it has a hole-punch selfie lens in the screen’s upper-left corner.
Both OnePlus 8 models have in-screen fingerprint sensors and 5G connectivity, which uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X55 modem. The phones ship on April 21 in Europe and April 29 in the US. Pricing and availability in Asia are expected to be announced on Thursday when OnePlus holds a product event in China.
