OnePlus appears to be having a hard time securing user data. For the second time in as many years, OnePlus’ user information has been accessed by an unauthorized party.
The Shenzhen-based company announced the breach on Friday. OnePlus said that all payment information, passwords and accounts are safe. But certain user names, contact numbers, emails and shipping addresses may have been exposed.
OnePlus didn’t disclose the size of the breach, but their first data leak announced in January 2018 affected up to 40,000 users and included customers’ credit card information. The company said it’s investigating and has taken steps to reinforce security. It has also sent emails to warn affected customers.
OnePlus is one of the few Chinese smartphone brands to generate hype and gain a large following outside China. It’s owned by BBK Electronics, which also owns Oppo, Vivo and Realme.
