Tencent launched a new English website that lets users evaluate their risk for Covid-19. The website asks users questions about their age, travel history and whether they’re experiencing any symptoms. It then gives advice on whether they should seek medical help or isolate themselves. The website does not require people to log in or ask for any personal information.
Tencent said that it uses information from the National Health Commission of China, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and the World Health Organization. But it also noted that the preliminary tool should not be used for diagnosis or in lieu of a professional medical consultation.
Apple also offers a screening tool online, in an app and through Siri. And Amazon answers inquiries about Covid-19 through the Alexa voice assistant. The CDC in the US even has a chatbot built using a Microsoft tool that offers Covid-19 assessments.
