The MIX Alpha is Xiaomi’s latest concept phone. It has a seamless screen wrapped around the front, back and both sides -- resulting in something that looks like a bendable phone that’s permanently folded.
With 2.14mm-thin bezels on the top and bottom, the MIX Alpha has nearly no physical buttons or slots other than a power button -- opting instead for virtual buttons on the side screen. And instead of a headphone slot, sound is produced by vibration on the screen.
There are three cameras in total, including a 108-megapixel camera, all resting on a vertical band that runs down the backside of the phone. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun says there are no plans to mass produce the phone, but they have kicked off small scale production. A limited stock is expected to go on sale in late December at 19,999 yuan (US$2,800).
